Rubuntja was well noted for being a talented artists in various mediums that reflected traditional values and themes: "Doesn't matter what sort of painting we do in this country, it still belongs to the people, all the people." - (The Weekend Australian Magazine, April, 2002).

Rubuntja was one of those artists who was able to translate Aboriginal Dreamings (mythology) using Western materials. The purest Hermannsburg watercolor paintings expose this surreal world of Aboriginal Mythology. They are not symbolic, rather a present viewpoint of Dreaming based world of Ancestral beings & spirits. Direct representations of how the landscape & its creation looked through the eyes of an Aboriginal tribesman. The Gum Tree's branches are often shaped in a way that resemble human-like limbs. They are transformed ancestral dreamtime beings.

This is a lovely early example of Wenten's work. Unfortunately, the artwork has some foxing in the top half of the work. A good restorer can fix this problem. The painting will be posted framed, and will be packaged well to minimize any risk of damage whilst the artwork is in transit.
