This painting is associated with the Dreaming of the ‘Hail Storm at Kaakuratintja’. Kaakuratintja is the aboriginal name for Lake McDonald. The word derives from the Pintupi language. This painting tells the story of a journey by the Tingari ancestors who traveled to Kaakuratintja.  It is said that all of these ancestors were killed in a ferocious hail storm.

Dinny shows the fury and hectic movement of the wind, sand and hail across the land in this mythological telling. The use of only two colors, black and yellow, make sure that we are not distracted by anything other than that of the sense of movement and power of the natural phenomena. We can almost hear the wind blowing and the hail dropping as our eyes move along the curved linear tracks. We are taken on a ride in all directions and are mesmerized by the power of landscape.

This work is accompanied by over 30 photographs of Dinny painting the piece and a certificate of authenticity issued by Aboriginal Works that guarantees the authenticity of the painting.

A lovely piece for a private or company collection. This painting will be couriered in a safe and sturdy postal tube to avoid any damage of the artwork whilst in transit.
