This painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole site of Umari, situated in sandhill country, east of Mt. Webb, in Western Australia. The lines in the painting represent the tali (sand hills) surrounding the site. Two groups of women, from the Nangala and Napaltjarri kinship subsection gathered at the site to perform ceremonies, who after meeting in the tali around Umari later travelled towards the east.
One of the Tjukurrpa associated with the area concerns a relationship between a man of the Tjakamarra kinship and that of a woman of the Nangala kinship. This is a mother-in-law relationship which is taboo in Aboriginal Culture.1
