Noel Nabegeyo is from the region of Gunbalanya (Western Arnhem Land) which is best known for its X-ray style paintings. Animals and spirit beings have been painted in this way for 50,000 years in the region on cave walls and also on bark. The 'X-ray' style displays the internal organs in sections as part of the external image. The highly intrinsic designs, the natural properties of the support and materials used, the three dimensional properties of barks paintings make them highly individual and desirable works of art.
The Barramundi is a species of fish found on the northern and eastern coasts of Australia. Barramundi is a loanword from a Queensland Aboriginal language of the Rockhampton area meaning 'Large Scale' or 'large scaly river' fish.
This is a stunning example of some of the finest X-ray art being produced in Gunbalanya at the moment. A certificate of Authenticity will be issued with the work guaranteeing 100% authenticity. This painting will be couriered in a safe and sturdy package to avoid any damage of the artwork whilst in transit.
