Michael Pambuk was born in 1916 and is an Arnhem Land artist who paints works on bark using natural earth pigments (ochres). The barks are striped from the trees between November and March (the wet season) once the sap has run down the tree - this makes the job of stripping the bark a whole lot easier. In the west and central areas of Arnhem Land, the 'X-ray' style of painting is the most common characteristic that distinguishes these artists from the rest of the contemporary art movements. However, Michael Pambuk is mixing traditional materials and supports with a more modern style of painting. This work is highly rhythmic and the sense of movement is evoked throughout the whole work.

A great example of Arnhem Land work. A certificate of Authenticity will be issued with the work guaranteeing 100% authenticity. This painting will be couriered in a safe and sturdy package to avoid any damage of the artwork whilst in transit.
