The area of Yirrkala is found in the north-eastern Arnhem Land, and is quite notable for it's 'X-ray' style and cross hatched designs that often fill the backgrounds to the animals or plants represented in the foreground.

The Yirrkala people created a bark Petition that was presented to the Parliament of Australia 1963 on behalf of five hundred people, to plead their case opposing mining on their land. Made on a stringybark board, clan designs and figurative representations of creation animals, with the people's claims written on a central panel, it was the first example of an artwork being used to represent people's connection to their land.

A great example of Arnhem Land work. A certificate of Authenticity will be issued with the work guaranteeing 100% authenticity. This painting will be couriered in a safe and sturdy package to avoid any damage of the artwork whilst in transit.
