BOLD DESIGNS OF THE KIMBERLY
Son of prominent Kimberley artists, Hanson Boxer and Nancey Nodea, Mark was born in Derby and now lives and works in the thriving artistic community of Kununurra. The 'Ngarrangkarni' (Dreamings) are related to his mother's country Texas Downs and also those pertaining to his father around Cherabun Station and Fitzroy Crossing. This mixed background has given Mark the possibility to explore a wide range of subjects and themes as the basis of his painting. Mark has served as Chairperson for the Aboriginal owned and operated cooperative – Warmun Art for which he continues to work today. In 2002, the artist received a commission from the Royal Australian Mint for the “Silver Collection Coin” to design one of the country's symbols - the kangaroo. From that moment on the artist has enjoyed much attention from an ever growing public.
