Realism over symbolism. Although much of the contemporary art produced by the various communities has a dreaming story as it's foundation, there seems little that needs interpreting in the Hermannsburg watercolors. They are realistic yet many paintings hold a secret dreaming story that is portrayed by the bending branches or the shapes on the rocks and cliffs. In the words of the late Wenton Rubuntja:

"Doesn't matter what sort of painting we do in this country, it still belongs to the people, all the people. This is worship, work, culture. It's all Dreaming. There are two ways of painting. Both ways are important, because that's culture." – (The Weekend Australian Magazine, April, 2002).

This painting was included in two important Aboriginal Art Exhibitions in the Region of Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. The exhibitions was critically acclaimed by critics as it was the first time that an exhibition of Indigenous artists had been organised in the territory. The exhibition has over sixty works by more than 40 artists from over 10 aboriginal communities. Below are some photos of the last exhibition. Please note that the 72 page catalogue will be included with the painting. Please note that although the painting was exhibited it was not reproduced in the catalogue.
